Sylvia McGhee

Sylvia Sidney McGhee, 75, of Chattanooga, Tenn., passed away Wednesday, June 21, 2017, at her residence. She was the daughter of the late Sidney and Elizabeth Sewell and was preceded in death by her husband, Walter “Ralph” McGhee; two sisters, Jenny Sewell, Patricia Sewell; and a brother, Sidney Sewell Jr. Sylvia was born in Chattanooga, Tenn., on July 27, 1941. She retired from TVA where she worked many years as a systems analyst. She was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include her two daughters, Karen McGhee, Sherry Smith, both of Chattanooga, Tenn.; sister, Gail Sewell, of Knoxville, Tenn.; brother, George Sewell, of Illinois; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 27, 2017, in the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Pastor Kenny Morgan officiating. Interment will follow in Lakewood Memory Gardens, East. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 26, 2017, at the funeral home.
