Jean Collins

CLEVELAND — Peggy Jean Collins, 90, passed away on Saturday afternoon June 24, 2017, at Erlanger Medical Center. She was born on Aug. 7, 1926, in Bridgeport, Ala., a daughter of the late Elbert and Zora Mae Sparks. Jean was a retired LPN working for many years at Bradley Memorial Hospital and later prior to retirement at Bradley Junior School as their school nurse. She was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church where she was very involved in her church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her husband, H. B. “Rip” Collins; two brothers, Lloyd Sparks and Don Grider; one sister, Jim Henson; and one nephew, Jimmy Henson. She leaves behind to cherish her memory one daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and David Cawood; three grandchildren, David Cawood Jr. (Tonya), Kristi Cawood and Dustin Cawood (Patti); eight great-grandchildren Corbin Cawood, Kellye Cawood, Cody Branham (Ryanna), Katie Branham, Hayden Branham, Bennett Cawood, Wyatt Cawood and Ryder Cawood; one sister-in-law, Gaynelle Grider; nephews, Shawn Henson, Larry Sparks, Vic Grider and Heath Grider; numerous other extended family members, church family and a host of special friends. A celebration of her life is planned for Tuesday, June 27, 2017, at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Companion Funeral Home located at 2419 Georgetown Road with the Rev. Ramon Torres and the Rev. Chris Rouse officiating. Interment will follow in the Sunset Memorial Gardens with David Cawood Jr., Dustin Cawood, Cody Branham, Hayden Branham, Corbin Cawood and Kellye Cawood serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Tuesday afternoon from 1 p.m. until the 3 p.m. service time in the funeral home parlor.
