Edith Walters

Edith S. Walters, 98, a former resident of both Chattanooga and North Georgia went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 15, 2017, in an Amarillo Health Care facility. She was currently making her home with her son in Amarillo, Texas. She attended Ridgedale Baptist Church and was a member of the Friendship Sunday School class. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dwain Walters; parents, Jud Lynn and Carrie Parker Swanson; brothers, G.W., Clifford and Harvey Swanson and sister, Ruth Martin. Survivors include her two sons, Kenneth Burns, of Amarillo, Texas and Dwain Walters Jr., of California; daughter, Janice Brundage, of California; sister, Dot Campbell Elrod, of Chattanooga; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 21, 2017, at 2:30 p.m. in the East Chapel of the Chattanooga Funeral Home with Dr. Bill Owens officiating. Burial will be held in Greenwood Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Tim Campbell, Bruce Campbell, Collin Campbell, Jason Campbell, Scott Bradley, Matt Burns, and Cliff Halcom. Honorary Pallbearers will be the members of the Friendship Sunday School class. The family will receive friends on Tuesday prior to the service from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Memorial Contributions may be made to Ridgedale Baptist Church, 1831 Hickory Valley Road, Chattanooga, Tenn., 37421.
