Sherry Lary

Sherry Minton Lary, of Signal Mountain, passed away, at her residence on March 21, 2017. Sherry was born in Gasden, Ala., on July 21, 1941. Sherry was a graduate of South Broward High School, Hollywood, Fla., Florida State University, where she majored in music education, and received her Master's Degree from Jacksonville University in Jacksonville, Fla. She taught for many years in the Duvall Co. School System. Sherry is survived by her husband of almost 42 years, Bernard J. Lary. They had a wonderful life and traveled the world. She is also survived by her sister, Charlotte Monton Gilmer (Randy) of Jacksonville, Ala.; a step-daughter, Jean Eichenlaub (David), of Jacksonville, Ala; a nephew, Lane Gilmer, of Panama City Beach, Fla; nieces, Caren Hayes (Chris), of Alexandria, Ala., Nancy Desautels (Todd), of Savannah, Ga., and several great nieces and nephews. She was loved by many friends and family members. She was preceded in death by her mother, Gladys Perman, of Gasden, Ala. Sherry attended Signal Crest United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir. She was also an active member of the Chattanooga Theater and Symphony Guilds. Sherry was instrumental in raising funeds to provide music scholarships for talented young musicians. There will be a memorial service to celebrate Sherry's life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Reserch or a charity of your choice.
