Edna Dyer

Edna Petty Dyer, 94, of Chattanooga, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, March 25, 2017. We know she is with Jesus, not because she was a good person, but because she knew Him and received Him as her Lord an Savior when she was a young girl. Her favorite Bible verse was, Proverbs 3:5 and 6. “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Edna was born Oct. 16, 1922, and lived her entire life in Chattanooga. She married Oran L. Dyer in 1943 and raised three children, in addition to fostering many children. She later went to work at Van Huesen and retired after 25 years of service. She was a faithful wife and mother and had many friends. She spent her last few years staying around the house, working in her yard, and listening to WDYN radio station. It was her favorite station and it stayed on 24/7 during the last years of her life. Edna loved to laugh and had many funny sayings. Edna was preceded in death by her son, Myron in 1966 and later her husband Oran in 1999. She is survived by her daughter, Orlinda; her son, Ron; and daughter-in-law, Esther. Orlinda was her faithful caregiver during the last 10 years of her life. Edna had seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews. Services will be 9 a.m. Tuesday, March 28, 2017, in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home with Pastor Joey Harris officiating. Afterward she will be buried with her husband at Chattanooga National Cemetery. Orlinda, Ron, and Esther would like to thank all of her extended family and friends who helped out during the final days of Edna’s life. A special thanks to Amedysis for their care.
