Rudolph Martin

Lt. Col. Rudolph Alfred Martin, USAF, Rtr, 96, of Oxford, Fla., passed away Sunday, May 21, 2017. Mr. Martin was born Aug. 28, 1920, in Rock Creek, Ohio, to Fred and Johanna (Brandt) Martin. He began his military service in the Army Air Corp during WWII and also served during the Korean War retiring from the U.S. Air Force. As a second career, Rudy sold insurance until he fully retired. He moved to Oxford in 2011 from Chickamauga, Ga., and was a member of the Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Oxford. Survivors include his sons, Douglas R. Martin and Gregg Martin (Susan Aaronson); brothers, Virgil Martin and Freddie Martin; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; stepchildren, Marty Orr (Maryann Marsh) and Karen Hall (Mike). Rudy was preceded in death by his wife, Margie on April 24, 2017; and daughter, Carol Martin. Family and friends will celebrate Rudy’s life 10 a.m., Thursday, June 1, 2017, in the Banks/Page-Theus Chapel with interment in Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell.
