E.K. Waldrop

E.K. Waldrop, 93, of Chattanooga, formerly of Knoxville, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, May 23, 2017. Mr. Waldrop was a Church of God minister for over 58 years, having served as Pastor and Board Member of churches throughout Tennessee and Birmingham, Alabama. He also served as Pastor and Superintendent of Smoky Mountain Children’s Home in Sevierville, Tenn. Mr. Waldrop was preceded in death by his wife, Clara; parents, James and Trannie Waldrop; son-in-law, John Whaley; granddaughter, Tara B. Whaley and several brothers and sisters. Survivors include daughter, JoAnn Whaley; son, Ken (Debbie) Waldrop; grandson, Russell (Vicky) Whaley; grandson, Chris (Donna) Whaley; granddaughter, Whitney (Zeke) Tucker; 13 great-grandchildren and two sisters, Pat Vines and Mazie Evans. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 26, at Berry Lynnhurst Funeral Home, 2300 Adair Drive, Knoxville, Tenn., 37918. The funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. with Bishop Eddie Blazier and Bishop Terry Ottinger officiating. Mr. Waldrop will be interred in Tennessee Veterans Cemetery, 2200 Gov. John Sevier Highway, Knoxville, Tenn., at 11:30 a.m. Friday, June 2, 2017. Full military honors will be conducted by East Tennessee Veterans Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Smoky Mountain Children’s Home in Sevierville, Tenn.
