SEQUATCHIE — Elva Jean Slatton Long, 78, of Sequatchie, passed away Thursday, May 25, 2017. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Lessie Slatton; sister, Mildred Morrison; brother, Clifford Slatton. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 59 years, Orvil P. Long; three children, Donna (Albert) Ansel, of Scurry, Texas, Debbie Marty, of Kemp, Texas, Greg (Keyna) Long, of Dallas, Texas; sister, Mary Elizabeth Norman, of Hayden, Ala.; eight grandchildren, Brandy, Monica, Deanda, Tabitha, Shonna, Gabriel, Miranda, Kayla; 16 great- grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., today, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 31, 2017. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 31, 2017, in the funeral home chapel, with Rev. Jerry Merciers officiating. Interment at Mt. Olive Cemetery.
