Ann McCarthy

Ann Chapman McKinney McCarthy, 92, died Nov. 11. She was known to everyone just as “Chappie.” She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond C. McCarthy. Chappie graduated from GPS, Sullins College and attended the University of Alabama. Much of her life has been centered around her family and St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. She was involved in many church activities and projects. For years she was in St. Paul’s Altar Guild, participated in numerous activities of the Women of the Church, met weekly with the St. Paul’s Quilters, and for several years she supervised all the weddings at St. Paul’s. She and Jasper Reynolds (now deceased) set up the St. Paul’s Archives and at the time of her death was working toward its growth. Chappie is survived by her son, William Patrick McCarthy, Chattanooga; her daughter, Alice McCarthy Finn and Curtis, of Franklin; five grandchildren, Monica Barrett and Craig, New Braunfels, Texas, Corwin McCarthy and Sharon, Lavergne, Tenn., Will McCarthy, Georgetown, Tenn., Chapman Finn and Mary Courtney Finn, Franklin, Tenn. Additionally, she has one great grandchild Joshua McCarthy. Her family suggests any monetary gifts could be made to Open Arms Corp, 6711 Mountain View Road, Ooltewah, TN 37363. Open Arms is a residential intermediate care facility for people with disabilities. The funeral will be Wednesday, Nov. 15 at 2 p.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.
