Herbert Owensby

Herbert Kenneth Owensby, 86, of Chattanooga, went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2017. He was born Sept. 27, 1931, in South Pittsburg, Tenn., to the late Oran Miles and Ethel Lorraine Owensby. He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Rick Adams; grandson, Richie Adams; and brother, Conrad Owensby. He was a member of White Oak Baptist Church for 66 years. Mr. Owensby served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. Mr. Owensby loved to fish, he enjoyed fishing Chickamauga Lake or anywhere there was water. Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Mary Helen Owensby; children, Kathy Adams, and Keith (Deddy) Owensby; grandson, Logan Owensby; great-grandson, Liam Owensby; sister, Gayle Farmer. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. today, Oct. 12, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral home with Pastor Tony Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
