Melvia Edens

Melvia Burns Edens, 94, of Chattanooga, died on Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2017. Melvia was a member of Concord Baptist Church for over 51 years and the Dorcas Sunday School Class. She was a graduate of Chattanooga High School, class of 1941 and also attended Edmondson School of Business. She was a member of Alpha Xi Beta Sigma Phi Business Sorority. She was a secretary for Steinhoefel Jewelers for several years. She handled the office duties for Ray Edens Machine Tool Company for over 20 years until she and her husband retired in 2003. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years Charles Raymond Edens; parents, Henry Carl Burns and Dolly S. Burns; daughters, Connie Rae Edens and Lynn Edens Dillon; sister, Agnes Burns Moore; brothers, Floyd E. Burns, Douglas Burns and Robert R. (Bob) Burns. She is survived by her loving daughter, Janice E. Armstrong and her husband, Thomas Patrick, of Knoxville; grandson, Andrew R. Dillon and his wife, Jenna; great grandson, Wyatt, of Daphne, Ala.; sister-in-law, Dolores Edens; several nephews and nieces. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 18, in the funeral home chapel with Rev. David King officiating. Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
