Cynthia MacFadden

LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN — Cynthia "Sue" Neal MacFadden, 95, passed away Oct. 11, 2017. She was born Feb. 24, 1922. Cynthia was born in Arcadia, Fla. She was member of Church of the Good Shepherd of Lookout Mountain, Tenn. She was a graduate of Florida State College for Women in Tallahassee, Fla., and she received her M.A. from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. She was an English teacher at Lookout Mountain Elementary School. She was a member of the Lookout Mountain Garden Club and the Philanthropic Educational Organization Chapter AD. She enjoyed playing Bridge with her friends, hosting Bed and Breakfast members, and loved tatting. Her loving husband, Dr. Arthur Ross MacFadden Sr.; and two sons, Gaylord Neal MacFadden Sr. and Arthur Ross MacFadden Jr.; parents, William Alfred and Vera Welles Neal preceded Mrs. Cynthia Neal MacFadden in death. She is survived by her grandson, Mac and Shea MacFadden, of Dalton, Ga.; granddaughters, David and Tammy Manly, of Dalton, Ga., and Ricky and Mitzi Reed Chatsworth, Ga.; daughter-in-law, Sandra McCarley, of Dalton, Ga.; “son,” Gaylord Carney, of Bradenton, Fla., and his wife, Beth; and “daughter,” Ronda Pilgram, of Trenton, Ga. Visitation will be held Friday, Oct. 20, 2017, in Talbird Hall at the Church of the Good Shepherd of Lookout Mountain, Tenn., at 11:30 a.m. and a memorial service will be held at 12:30 p.m. An interment at the Chattanooga National Cemetery will occur at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Philanthropic Educational Organization International Peace Scholarship in memory of Mrs. Cynthia Neal MacFadden. Peeples Funeral Home & Crematory of Chatsworth was in charge of the arrangements.
