Michael Ashburn
WHITWELL — Michael Ashburn, 57, passed away at his home on
Friday, Oct. 20, 2017, with his family, after a short-term fight
with cancer.
He was born in Chattanooga, to Joe and Adele Ashburn and a graduate from
City High School, class of 1978.
Mike, a very giving man, will be remembered as a meticulous butcher
working his entire life in meat markets in the Chattanooga area to include Red Food, Pruitt's,
Bi-Lo and Food City. Mike loved racing, to grill out and cook, always serving others. He will be missed by so very many!
Mike was preceded in death by his father, Joseph (Joe) T. Ashburn.
He is survived by his mother, Adele Ashburn, of Miami, Fla., (Don
Edmondson); brother, Brian Ashburn; sister, Susan Ashburn; nieces,
Shelley (Josh) Bunch, Tiffany Ashburn (Bo Clark), Brandi Ashburn, Alisha (Kaylan) Reeves; nephews, Greg (Cherie) Stalyon, Bradley
(Briana) Ashburn, and several great-nieces, great-nephews, other
relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Reed Funeral Home on Monday, Oct. 23, 2017, at 2 p.m. CST with Rev. Phyllis Borchert officiating. Burial will follow at Red Hill Cemetery. Michael was lovingly cared for by Hospice of Chattanooga. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to Hospice of Chattanooga, 4411 Oakwood Dr, Chattanooga, TN 37416.
