Blanche Alewine

DAYTON — Blanche V. Alewine, 94, passed away on Friday, Oct. 20, 2017, at the Life Care Center of Rhea County. Blanche was born in Anderson County, S.C. on May 19, 1923, to Jim and Lou Wade Vickery. She worked at Sherwood Corporation and in the deli at the Spring City Piggly Wiggly. Blanche was a member of First Baptist Church of Spring City and attended New Union Baptist Church after moving to Dayton. Blanche was a beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Preceded in death in addition to her parents was her husband Floyd Alewine; her sons Kenneth Alewine and Harry Alewine; her brothers, Dyke, Mac, Paul and Bill Vickery and her sisters, Louise Tillman, Faye Farmer and Jewell Mullinax. She is survived by her daughters Rosemary (Jr.) Victory, Lavonia, Ga.; Kathy McClain, Aiken, S.C.; Gay (Lonnie) Freeman and Tammy (Tim) Colvin, Dayton; and daughter-in- law Susan Alewine, Bowling Green, Ky.; sisters-In-Law, Mary Vickery, Morristown, Tenn.; Pauline Vickery Lavonia, Ga.; Lima Alewine, Atlanta and many nieces and nephews. Grandchildren, Lisa Alewine with two children and one grandchild; Beau Alewine with two children; Elizabeth Alewine; David (Karyn) Victory with two children; Mark (Jennifer) Victory with 2 children and 1 grandchild; Hannah Lee; Justin Freeman; Kenzie Freeman; Joe(Tashia) Colvin with two children and Ben Colvin. Funeral services are Thursday, Oct. 26, 2017 at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home with Dr. Danny Rhueling officiating. Interment will follow in the Spring City Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2017 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Vaughn Funeral Home. Vaughn Funeral Home in Spring City is in charge of arrangements.
