James Espy

Retired Colonel James Harry Espy, 85, of Chattanooga, passed away Saturday, Sept. 9, 2017. He was an active member of Red Bank Baptist Church and was retired from Combustion Engineering. He was the son of the late Boyce and Fatie Espy. Mr. Espy was also preceded in death by two brothers, Boyce and Scott Espy; and four sisters, Mary Langford, Ruth Jernigan, Doris Flippo and Louise Austin. Survivors include three nieces, Sandra Huskey, Janet Standefer and Joy Robbins; five nephews, Randy Espy, Jimmy Flippo, Mike Flippo, Jerry Espy and Joe Jernigan. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2017 from 10 to 1:30 p.m. at Lane Funeral Home, Ashland Terrace A graveside service with military honors will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at Chattanooga National Cemetery with the Reverend Bill Harvey officiating .
