Mildred Cofer

RINGGOLD — Mildred Jay Cofer, 92, passed away Saturday, Sept. 9, 2017. A lifelong resident of the Ringgold area, she was a member of the Ringgold First Baptist Church where she served as a member of the choir and was a former Sunday School Secretary. Mildred was a former employee of Sweetwater Carpet and of Northwest Georgia Home Health. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Miller Cofer; daughter, Donna Cofer Bomar; parents, Gus and Sally Childers Jay; and two brothers, Doc and Jack Jay. She is survived by brother, Jimmy (Delores) Jay of Ringgold, Ga.; two grandsons, Tyson (Mary) Bomar of Ringgold, Ga., and Kelly Bomar of Ringgold, Ga.; two great grandsons, Devan and Cooper Bomar; three step great granddaughters, Maddison, Ashley and Jill; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday Sept. 13, 2017 at the Ringgold First Baptist Church with Dr. Bruce Sloan officiating. Interment will follow at Anderson Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 3 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Georgia Baptist Children’s Home.
