Terry Monroe “Hoot” Gibson, 60, of Chattanooga, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2017. Terry was born in Chattanooga on June 23, 2017, to his parents, Johnny Payne and Marcine Pedrick. Terry has been a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga area and a graduate of Kirkman High School. For several years, Terry was a professional drummer with various groups, including the Mill Wee Hollow Band and 27 South. He was of the Christian faith and also enjoyed fishing, the outdoors, going to the shooting range. Terry was preceded in death by his father, Johnny Payne and his adoptive parents, Ralph and Bessie Gibson. Survivors include his mother, Marcine “Marcie” Pedrick; sons, Kenny Gibson and Caleb Walls; daughter, Tessa Turner; three brothers, Michael Sherril, Steve Davis and Marty Payne; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 15, 2017, in the South Crest Chapel with Evangelist Ron Taylor officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
