Carl Hanson

Carl Hanson, 67, of Chattanooga, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2017, at his residence. He was the son of the late Oscar and Myra Hanson. Carl served in the U.S. Army and the U.S Army Reserve. He retired from Colonial Bakery, where he worked for 27 years. Carl was known for his strong political values, work ethic and love for Dirt Track racing. You could always count on him finding a racetrack several times a year. He was also an avid Ole Miss Rebels fan. Carl was preceded in death by three brothers, James, Jimmy and William Hanson; two sisters, Dorothy Fowler and Betty Coleman; and a grandson, Toby McDaniel. Survivors include his loving wife of 44 years, Wilda Hanson; three daughters, Leslie Hanson, Karla (Michael) Harwood and Hollie Hanson and her fiancé, Courtney McDaniel, all of Chattanooga; two grandsons, Braylen and Peyton Harwood; two brothers, Milton Hanson and Billy (Ginger) Hanson; nieces, Pat (Buck) Harris, Diane Moore, Melissa Howard, Jill (Blake) Wigfield, Crystal Hanson and Natalie Duncan; nephews, Larry Coleman, Doug (Becky) Coleman, Andy Coleman, Jason (Leigh Ann) Hanson, Joey (Tracie) Hanson, Stanley Hanson, Clint (Anna Beth) Hanson, Kelly (Lauren) Duncan and Casey Duncan; sisters-in-law, Kathy Hanson, Kaye Ruth Duncan and Shelve (Roger) Bell; several dear family members, friends and racing buddies. Funeral services will be held at noon Friday, Sept. 15, in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Jeff Duncan officiating. Interment will follow in New McDonald Cemetery.
