Ira Davis

IDER — Ira Davis, 89, died Monday, Sept. 18, 2017, at Sheppard's Cove Hospice. Funeral services are Saturday at 2 p.m. at Corner Stone Funeral Chapel with Elder Ricky Deal and Elder Marvin Paulk officiating. Burial will follow in Fuller Cemetery with Military Honors and Masonic Rites. Family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and noon until service time on Saturday. Survivors include sons, Iven Davis and Iliff Davis; daughters, Ina Patton (Brent), Iris Turner (Mike); grandchildren, Bryan Davis (Stephanie), Tiffany Davis, Hunter Davis, Deanna Yow (Chris), Brad Patton(Nicole), Elisa Turner, Scott Turner, Michele Snow(Josh); 11 great-grandchildren, brothers, Van Davis (Millie Faye) and Paul Davis (Charlotte). Mr. Davis was Korean War veteran serving in the U.S. Army and was retired from Wheland Foundry. He was a Member and Deacon of Macedonia Primitive Baptist Church, a member of Ider Ashlar Lodge, York Rite of Masonry, Shriners and DAV. Lovingly known as "the candy man" at Tri States Youth Camp, where he ran the concession stand for many years. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 27 years, Retta Mae Davis; and second wife of 33 years, Cleo Davis; grandchildren, Tanya Davis, Matthew Patton, parents, George B. and Bessie York Davis; two sisters and nine brothers. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sheppard's Cove Hospice, TAG Corporation (Tri States Youth Camp) or Macedonia Primitive Baptist Church in his memory.
