Eleanor Britton

Eleanor Jeter Britton, 82, of Chattanooga, formerly of Knoxville, passed away Friday evening, April 13, 2018, at Alexian Village in Signal Mountain. Eleanor was a member of the Central Church of Christ in Chattanooga. She was a teacher and taught for many years at Belle Morris Elementary School. Eleanor loved all animals, especially her dogs. She also had a love for history and literature and tried to pass these things along to her children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Billy Joe (Bill) Britton and her parents, Jane Jeter Walker and John Roland Jeter, both of Dresden, Tenn. She is survived by her children, John Jeter Britton, of Knoxville, and Julie Britton Burney, of Chattanooga; and her grandsons, Noah Burney (and his fiance, Lauren Bailey), of Chicago, Ill., and Sean Burney, of Chattanooga. Family and friends will gather at 2:15 p.m. on Friday at the Chattanooga National Cemetery for commital services at 2:30. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. on Saturday at the Click Funeral Home Farragut Chapel with a Celebration of Life to follow at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Animal Welfare Institute, awionline.org or your local Animal Shelter.
