Evelyn Pless

Nancy Evelyn Collins Pless, 101, formerly of Chattanooga, passed away on April 20, 2018. Evelyn was a hardworking, energetic person. She enjoyed sewing and cross stitch. Evelyn loved flowers and had quite the green thumb. She graduated from Central High School. Evelyn was a member of First Christian Church and was a member of the Key Class Sunday School and an avid volunteer. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Allison Pless, Jr., and her son, Hubert Allison Pless, III; her parents, Philip and Jennie Collins; and a brother, James Tate Collins. Left behind to cherish Evelyn’s memory are her daughter and son-in- law, Nancy and Charlie Cole, Marietta, Ga.; granddaughter and her husband, Allison and Tim Cottle her great-granddaughter, Taylor Cottle, all of Acworth, Ga.; grandson, Wyatt Pless, Athens, Ga., and a niece, Carol, and her husband, Carldon Chandler, Ringgold, Ga. A Celebration of Evelyn’s Life will be held in the sanctuary of First Christian Church on Tuesday April 24, 2018, at 12:30 p.m. with Rev. Brandon Gilvin officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 11 a.m. until service time. She will be laid to rest with her husband in the Chattanooga National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Evelyn’s memory to the First Christian Church Children and Youth Group, 650 McCallie Ave, Chattanooga, Tenn. 37403 or to St. Andrew’s UMC, Children and Youth Group 3455 Canton Rd, Marietta, Ga. 30066.
