Betty Kennamer

Betty Ruth McLain Kennamer, 92, formerly of Hixson, died peacefully Thursday, Aug. 9, 2018. She was born and raised in Chattanooga. Betty graduated from Red Bank High School, where she later returned and taught, after graduating from the University of Chattanooga, until her retirement in 1986. Betty was a long-time member of the Hixson/Clear Creek Church of Christ and was a Godly woman who enjoyed her Christian life. She loved yard work and many other activities. She was the daughter of the late Emmett and Robinette McLain; also preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Murral Kennamer; daughter, Lori Kennamer Pruett; brothers, Charles (Clara) McLain and Emmett McLain Jr.; and sister, Edna (Horace) Huffman. Those left to cherish her memory include sons, Kelvin (Melissa) Kennamer and Dennis (Helen) Kennamer; grandchildren, Seth Kennamer, Lindsey Blacksher, Paige (Tyler) Young, Clint (Kate) Kennamer, Will Pruett, Andrew Pruett and Thompsie (Hugh) Huffaker; nine great-grandchildren; nieces, Diane (Jerry) Totty and Donna (Clay) Farrell; and nephew Wes (Melissa) Huffman. The family will receive friends 11 a.m. to noon Saturday with the Funeral Service to follow at noon in the chapel of Lane Funeral Home on Ashland Terrace. Interment will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
