Jerry Greeson

Jerry Lee Greeson Sr., 76, of Signal Mountain, Tenn., died Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2018. After a five month fight with brain cancer, Jerry died in his home surrounded by family. He was preceded in death by his wife, of more than 47 years, Barbera Greeson, his parents Mitchell and Aileen Greeson of Smyrna, Ga., and his brother, Mitchell, who died Aug. 3. He is survived by his son, Jay (Kathleen), grandson Lee, 10, and granddaughter, Madeline Ray, 8, all of Signal Mountain. He was loved deeply by a wide circle of people he touched and he will be missed greatly. But his memory will live among the hundreds he helped, the thousands of kids he coached in baseball and basketball and the countless number of people he inspired. Born in Calhoun, Ga., and raised in Smyrna, Jerry was loved and respected and lived his life in service to his Savior and anyone who needed his help. He graduated from Campbell High School in Smyrna, worked most of his adult life for Cleveland Electric and spent almost all of his free time volunteering in the Jaycees, coaching youth sports teams or as member of Big Brothers/Big Sisters. A celebration of his rich and impactful life will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, at Signal Mountain Church of Christ. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Signal Mountain Church of Christ’s El Salvador missionary work. Cremation Center of Chattanooga, 1345 Hickory Valley Road, Chattanooga, Tenn. (423) 362-5999.
