Margaret Stradley

HARLINGEN, Texas — Margaret "Peggy" Jeanne Coy Stradley, 92, passed away Aug. 5, 2018. Margaret lived at Park Place Estates in Harlingen, Texas since moving from Minnesota in 1990. In 2011 she moved to Golden Palms Retirement Center in Harlingen, TX. She was born Sept. 23, 1925, in Defiance County, OH to Ray Earl and Alta Gail Shafer Coy. Margaret attended Mark Center High School in Mark Center, OH and then attended Ohio State University in Columbus, OH earning an R.N. and a B.S. in Nursing Education. She served in U.S. Army Nurse Cadet Corp during WWII. Margaret married Norman H. Stradley Nov. 27, 1947, in Columbus, OH. After her marriage to Norman in 1947 she moved with him to Minnesota where he was employed with 3M. They were transferred to Tennessee in 1968 and while there Margaret spent many years working in nursing and volunteering as a leader of their daughter's Brownie and Girl Scout Troops, their son's Cub and Weblo troops and as an Instructor for American Camp Crafters. They then moved back to Minnesota and after retiring in 1988, they traveled for several years in their motor home and in 1990 took permanent residence in Harlingen, TX. Margaret was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Harlingen, TX and the Harlingen Lions Club. Margaret is survived by her husband, Norman Stradley; her children, Edward Ray Stradley, of Ft. Worth, TX and Dr. Pamela Jeanne Stradley White, of Memphis, Tenn.; son-in-law, Danny Michael White, of Memphis, Tenn.; grandsons, Dustin Travis White and granddaughter-in-law, Brandis Anne Bovell White, of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Kyle Lane White and granddaughter-in-law Amy Vandelicht White, of St. Louis, MO; great-grandsons, Jackson Lane and Clayton Andrew White both of St. Louis, Mo.; great-granddaughter, Nora Liberty White, of Chattanooga, Tenn.; sister-in-law, Lillian Cochran Stradley, of Oak Ridge, Tenn.; and numerous nieces and nephews . She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray Earl and Alta Gail Shafer Coy; brothers, Roger Shafer Coy and Albert John Coy; sisters-in-law, Marie Revert Coy, Nadine Ketron Coy and Kathleen Stradley Chaney; and brother-in-law, J. Grant Stradley. "I am leaving you with a gift-peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don't be troubled or afraid. Remember what I told you: I am going away, but I will come back to you again. If you really loved me, you would be happy that I am going to the Father, who is greater than I am. I have told you these things before they happen so that when they do happen, you will believe." (John 14:27-29) Private services will be held at a later date.
