Edward Collier

LaFAYETTE — Edward Norris Collier, 74, passed away Dec. 7 2018. He was born July 2, 1944, in LaFayette, Ga., the son of the late Robert Lee Collier and Madeline Meeks Collier. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, JoAnn Jennings Collier, daughter of Ralph William Jennings and Inez Mavity Jennings also from LaFayette, Ga. They married in 1965 and made their home together in Huntsville, Ala. He is currently a resident of heaven in the presence of his Lord, Jesus Christ. He loved his family very much and was very proud of each and every one of them. He was very active at Whitesburg Baptist Church and served as deacon, usher, Sunday School teacher and in many other capacities, as well. He was also involved in Boys Scouts for many years, even after his two sons graduated. He received the ‘Good Shepherd’ award for “his distinguished service leading toward the spiritual, physical, mental, and moral development of youth through service to the church and its Scouting program.” He is also survived by his three children, Stephen Edward Collier (Teresa) and their sons Joseph, Daniel, and Samuel Collier, of Jackson, TN; David Lee Collier (Tracie) and their sons Henry and Ethan Collier, of Huntsville, AL; and daughter Ann Marie Collier Letson (Rickey) and their children Callie and Caleb Letson, of Laurens, SC. He is also survived by his brother, Howard Collier (Donna), of Rome, GA and sister, Frances Collier Brooks of LaFayette, GA. Mr. Collier will be honored at a funeral service on Saturday, Dec. 8, 2018, at Wallis-Wilbanks Funeral Home in LaFayette, GA. Visitation will be 2 to 3 p.m., EST, followed by a service in the chapel officiated by Rev. Rickey Letson. Interment will follow in the LaFayette City Cemetery. There will be a Celebration of Life ceremony on Sunday, Dec. 9, 2018, at Whitesburg Baptist Church (South campus) in Huntsville, AL. Visitation will be in the chapel, 2 to 4 p.m., CST, with a service following officiated by Dr. Jimmy Jackson and Rev. John Crocker with Carey Green also participating.
