Gene Wallin

LaFAYETTE — Rev. Douglas Eugene “Gene” Wallin, 83, passed away Thursday, Dec. 6, 2018. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church and pastored many churches for 50 years including Community Baptist Church, Way of the Cross Baptist Church, Woodstation Baptist Church, and Emmanuel Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Earline Green Wallin; son, Tim Wallin; grandson, James Matthew Wallin; sister, Kathlene Wallin; brothers, Ralph, Bryant, and Rev. Dewey Wallin. He is survived by his sons, Rev. Mike (Dana) Wallin, of Cleveland, Tenn., and Chris (Tracy) Wallin, of Rock Spring; grandchildren, Amber Cleghorn, Stephanie Abushaqra, Doug Wallin, Andy Wallin, Jake Wallin, and Rachel Wallin; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, at Emmanuel Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Wallin and nephew Mickey Wallin officiating. Interment at LaFayette Cemetery. Pallbearers are Ron Brendel, Jake Wallin, Andy Wallin, Doug Wallin, Larry Wallin, and Joel Jackson. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home with a hour visitation prior to the service on Sunday at the church. Arrangements are by Wallis-Wilbanks Funeral Home, LaFayette.
