Joanne Gustafson

Joanne “Peggy” Carpenter Gustafson, 88, of Chattanooga, Tenn., passed away on Friday, Dec. 7, 2018. Joanne was born in Minneapolis, Min. on Dec. 17, 1929, to the late Roy and Margaret Carpenter. She met the love of her life the late Willard Dean Gustafson and they were married on Oct. 11, 1952. She served at Duncan Park Baptist Church in East Ridge, Tenn. and First Baptist Church in Evensville, Tenn. as a Pastor’s wife. Her mission in life was to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ, which she did until the end of her life. She is survived by her children, Sandra (Mike) Hartline, Steven (Melissa) Gustafson; grandchildren, Alana (Jim) Caughron, Tyler (Rachel) Christian, Seth Gustafson, Cambrie (Alex) Gagliardi; and great- grandchildren, Emma G. Caughron, Emma D., Lila, and Molly Christian. A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 12, at the Chattanooga National Cemetery with Pastor Gary Moore officiating.
