Jack Phillips

SPRING CITY — Jack Kimble Phillips, 87, died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2018, at his residence. Born in Anderson, Ind., Jack was the son of the late Roy and Ruby Butterfield Phillips. He and his family moved to Spring City in 1962 when they purchased Torbett’s 5 & 10 Store; which became Phillips 5 & 10. He and his family ran the store for over 20 years; they then started Phase II Video. After selling the video store, he started Jack Phillips Realty until his retirement. Jack was a member of the Spring City United Methodist Church, Rhea Springs Lodge #310, and Alhambra Shrine Temple in Chattanooga. Always active in his community, he was a former member of the Spring City Kiwanis Club. Jack was an avid golfer. Jack was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Ann Phillips; his sister, Evealee Scruggs; great-granddaughters, Allie Marie Blevens and Lily Grace Hoffsis. Survivors include his daughters, Cindy Ross, of Spring City, and Terri Massie, of Indianapolis, Ind.; sons, Roy (Bridgett) Phillips, of Spring City and Robbie Massie, of Spring City; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services are Friday, Dec. 14, 2018, at 3 p.m. at the Chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home with the Rev. Dale Wyrick officiating. Interment will be in the Spring City Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday from 1 to 3 p.m. at Vaughn Funeral Home.
