Henry Hammonds

It is with great sadness that the family of Henry Christopher Hammonds, known to family and friends as ‘Chris’, announce his passing on Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2018, in Dallas, Texas after a short and aggressive cancer battle. He was a 1980 graduate of Brainerd High School. Chris was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Maggie Hammonds. He will be forever remembered by his daughter, Christy Hammonds, of Chattanooga; two sisters, Marjorie Wordlaw (Gary) Baton Rouge, La., and Rachelle Nunez (Jose’) Lawrenceville, Ga.; one granddaughter, Rickya; two nieces; four nephews; two great-nephews; aunt, Martha Hobbs, Toney, Ala.; and many cousins, extended family and friends; also friend and ex-wife, Darlene M. Hammonds and his very special soulmate, Gena Brooks, Dallas, Texas. A Celebration of Chris’ life will be held in the spring when his remains will be scattered according to his wishes. Memorial donations in memory of Chris may be made to a cancer organization of your choosing.
