Gale Adamson

TUNNEL HILL — Mr. Gale Eugene “Gene” Adamson (formerly of Lookout Mountain, Ga.), 83, passed away Friday Feb. 16, 2018, at Hamilton Medical Center surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his parents Otis and Mabel Adamson of Des Moines, Iowa; Sister, Mary Lou Niemeyer; Brother-in-law, Stan Niemeyer; brother-in-law, Don Chick of Neb. and Iowa; and Grandson, Benjamin Adamson of Dalton. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Bertha Lou Rann Horne Adamson of Tunnel Hill; son and daughter-in-law, John and Barbara Adamson of Dalton, Ga. ; daughter, Jeanie Brakebill of Chattanooga, Tenn.; daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Jeff Cooper of Cumming, Ga; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Tommy Hobbs of Signal Mountain, Tenn.; son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Bryn Adamson of Athens, Ga; stepsons, Blake Horne and wife Tarah of Tunnel Hill, Mark Horne and wife Tammy of Dalton, Ga; grandchildren, Zack (Anna) Adamson, Shelley (Brad) Downs, Jay Adamson, Elliott and Laura Lee Brakebill, Madeline (Michael) Mooneyhan, Thomas Cooper, Zack and Rachel Hobbs, Owen Honroth, Delia and Ava Adamson, LB and Tyler Horne, Allison and Abby Horne; four Great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survived. Gene had a long career in the textile industry in many capacities. Working as an independent sales agent and later owning his own business. He was a member of the Tunnel Hill City counsel for over 20 years. He was a member of the Tunnel Hill United Methodist church, a loving father and grandfather and a friend to many. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. The family would like express their appreciation to Amedisys home health for their loving care of Gene. A memorial service will be held at Tunnel Hill United Methodist Church on Monday, Feb. 19 at 3 p.m. with visitation from 1 p.m. until memorial hour officiated by Reverend Jay Tenney. Honorary pall bearers are Kenny Gowin, Hub Griffin, Blake Griffin, Jim Griffin, Liz Dennis all members of the Tunnel Hill City council and Frank Moody. In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be made to Tunnel Hill United Methodist Church, 121 N. Varnell Rd, Tunnel Hill, Ga. 30755.
