Wallace Milsaps

Wallace Sanford Milsaps, of Harrison, Tenn., passed away on Saturday, Jan. 6, 2018. He was born April 17, 1943, to William Henry and Julia Marie Gourley Milsaps in Philadelphia, Tenn. As a young boy, while attending Philadelphia Baptist Church with his parents, he gave his life to Jesus Christ and continued to worship and fellowship after moving to Chattanooga, Tennessee at Silverdale Baptist Church. His life’s impact will be forever felt by those he loved. He was a 1961 graduate of Loudon High School. After attending Hiwassee College, he was employed by Delta Air Lines in Chattanooga, Tenn., for 31 years where he bonded with countless co-workers and made lasting friendships he cherished. He was also blessed by the many friends he made through hobbies of fishing, reel and boat repair and restoring cars. Wallace was preceded in death by his loving parents; parents-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Willis Galyon; seven brothers, Hubert Ray, Lloyd, Howard, Bill, Henry, Donnie, Tommy; and three sisters, Dama Milsaps, Mary Caldwell and Nova Shultz. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 54 years, Connie Gail Galyon Milsaps; His children and grandchildren, Jeffrey Wallace and his children, Jasmine Edith Nicole and Dalton James, Rhonda Gail Haley (Ed) and their children, Chloe Gail and Spencer Edward, Todd Martin (Johnna) and their children, William Martin and Jack Wallace; sisters, Faye Bledsoe and Zula (Jerry) Hall; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 9, in the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, with Rev. Tony Walliser officiating. Interment will follow in Lakewood Memory Gardens, East. The Delta Family of Chattanooga, Tennessee will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m., Monday, Jan. 8, at the funeral home.
