James Campbell Jr., “Hilly” “Hilly Bean”, 70, of Chattanooga, passed away Friday, Jan. 5, 2018, in a local hospital. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. James was a faithful member of Galilee Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He was formerly employed by Amusement Products. His mother, Mary E. Smith and father, James Campbell Sr. preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Wilma Campbell; sons, Tarvin Pointer, of Pasadena, Calif., Brandon (Shamesia) Campbell, of Marietta, Ga., and Marco Campbell, of Chattanooga; five grandchildren; brothers, Benny Haynes, of Chattanooga, Steve (Lydia) Sams, Floyd Sams, both of Tampa, Fla., and Daren (Paula) James, of Painesville, Ohio; sisters, Marilyn Slayton, Helena (Ronald) Odum, and Cheryl Howard, all of Chattanooga; uncle, Michael (Peggy) Hicks, of St. Paul, Minn.; aunts, Dianne (John) Lawrence, Elaine Foster, Beverly (Richard) Moon, all of Chattanooga, and Cardelia Greer, of New York; father-in-law, Willie Clay, of Hillsboro, Ala.; sister-in-law, Elaine Clay, of Atlanta, Ga.; nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends. Funeral service is today at noon at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Eddie R. Jacks as the eulogist. Burial in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
