James Campbell Jr., “Hilly” “Hilly Bean”, 70, of Chattanooga, passed away Friday, Jan. 5, 2018, in a local hospital. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. James was a faithful member of Galilee Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He was formerly employed by Amusement Products. His mother, Mary E. Smith and father, James Campbell Sr. preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Wilma Campbell; sons, Tarvin Pointer, of Pasadena, Calif., Brandon (Shamesia) Campbell, of Marietta, Ga., and Marco Campbell, of Chattanooga; five grandchildren; brothers, Benny Haynes, of Chattanooga, Steve (Lydia) Sams, Floyd Sams, both of Tampa, Fla., and Daren (Paula) James, of Painesville, Ohio; sisters, Marilyn Slayton, Helena (Ronald) Odum, and Cheryl Howard, all of Chattanooga; uncle, Michael (Peggy) Hicks, of St. Paul, Minn.; aunts, Dianne (John) Lawrence, Elaine Foster, Beverly (Richard) Moon, all of Chattanooga, and Cardelia Greer, of New York; father-in-law, Willie Clay, of Hillsboro, Ala.; sister-in-law, Elaine Clay, of Atlanta, Ga.; nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends. Funeral service is today at noon at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Eddie R. Jacks as the eulogist. Burial in Chattanooga National Cemetery. Arrangements are by Taylor Funeral Home of Chattanooga Inc.
