Robert Rhodes

Robert “Bob” Rhodes, 98, of Red Bank, went to be with the Lord Jan. 11, 2018. Bob was originally from Decatur, Ill. He attended Decatur Schools, Tri-State University in Angola, In., and Milliken University in Decatur, Il.. Bob proudly served his country in the US Army Infantry during World War II in the European Theater of Operation. He was a Mechanical Engineer and became Head of the Engineering Department at Mueller Co. He was a member of Red Bank Methodist Church where he enjoyed singing in the choir and the Men’s Chorus, and volunteering for various church activities. Bob also enjoyed traveling with his wife and doing genealogy research. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Kay Rhodes; his parents, three sisters and a son. Those remaining to cherish Bob’s memory include sons, Larry Rhodes and Don Rhodes; daughter, Cathy Rhodes; granddaughters, Lisa Rhodes Casas and Heather Rhodes Johnson; grandson, Maj. Robert G. Rhodes; five great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and many friends. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at Lane Funeral Home on Ashland Terrace. The Funeral Service will be 1 p.m. Thursday in the Chapel of Lane Funeral Home. There will be a visitation Saturday 10 to 11 a.m. with a Graveside Service to follow at Graceland Cemetery in Decatur, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, donation can be made in Bob’s name to St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital (www.stjude.org), Folds of Honor Foundation (foldsofhonor.org), or the charity of your choice.
