Lee Shipley

Luther Lee Shipley Jr., 87, of Ooltewah, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2018. He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther Lee and Hazel Shipley; sisters, Naomi Lee and Mildred Harris; and great- granddaughter, Finley Sorrells. Lee was a member of Greenwood Baptist Church. He retired from Hamilton County and American Lava/ 3M Company. Lee was a veteran in the Korean War, having served as a Corporal in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Ooltewah, and the Antique Automobile Club of America. He loved to buy and sell cars. Survivors include his loving wife, Ruthie Shipley of Ooltewah; sons, Randy Lee Shipley of Chattanooga and Steven Shipley of Ooltewah; grandchildren, Kassi, Amanda, Amika, Chrissy and Angela; great- grandchildren, Christopher, Taylor, Avery, Cash, Cael, Ava, Ashlyn, Weston; and a great, great-grandchild, Bo. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 19, 2018 in the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Pastor Shad Chandler officiating. Interment will follow at Lakewood Memory Gardens, East. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 18, 2018 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family will be setting up a college scholarship fund for his great-grandsons, Christopher and Taylor Swartout.
