Thelma Brewster

Thelma Joyce Brewster, 76, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Jan. 6, 2018, after an extended illness. She was born Dec. 4, 1941, in Ohatchee, Ala., to the late Thelma Collins Brewster. Joyce was a 1960 graduate of Howard High School. After high school she worked for Standard Coosa Thatcher Chattanooga Plant until retirement. Joyce was a faithful member of Galilee Missionary Baptist Church. She was very involved in the Senior Usher Board, and the Sunday School Ministries, until her health started failing. She loved walking around the East Chattanooga neighborhoods and spending time with her family. Joyce was preceded in death by her mother; brother, Kenny Brewster; and son, Maurice Brewster. She leaves to cherish her memories her grandson, JerMichael Maurice Brewster; and former daughter-in-law, Deborah Rutledge Brewster, both of Chattanooga. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018, at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Eddie R. Jacks, officiating.
