Nancy Tatum

Nancy Cole Tatum, 87, passed away on Friday, Jan. 19, 2018, in a local health care facility. She was born on March 16, 1930, as Nancy June Winningham in Pikeville, Tenn. She grew up in Chattanooga, attending Red Bank High School, class of 1948. She retired from the Chattanooga Times Free Press working in the Classified Ads Department. Nancy was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Chattanooga. Her interests include buying and selling antique glassware and collectibles. She married Brice Cole in 1950, and they were married for 47 years, until his death in 1997. Together they raised five children. She later married Arthur Tatum in 2000, until his death in 2008. She was preceded in death by her parents, Oyama and Sammie Ruth Winningham; sister, Patti Spann; husbands, Brice H. Cole and Arthur Tatum; and grandson, Christopher Brent Cole. Survivors include her children, Barry (Becky) Cole, Paul Cole, Candy (Bobby) Frederick, Linda (Buddy) Childers, Mark (Meg) Cole; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2018, in the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Rev. Jim O’Dillon officiating. Interment will be at Lakewood Memory Gardens, East. The family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
