Eva Cross

Eva (Vincent) Cross, 91, of Apison, Tenn., went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, July 11, 2018. She was born to the late J.O. and Emma Vincent of Albany, Ky., on May 18, 1927. She was the wife of the late James F. Cross and as also preceded in death by her brothers, William “Bill”, Ethridge, Aubrey and Hubert (Kay) Vincent; sister, Anne Morrison. She leaves behind to cherish her memories a sister, Dean Mullins, Byrdstown, Tenn.; four sons, Warren, Lowell (Karen), Paul (Helen) and Donald (Wanda) Cross; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Eva was an active member of Apison Baptist Church where she enjoyed serving on the hospitality committee, and also on the prayer line. She was active in the senior citizen group. Earlier in her life she also was involved in PTA and the McDonald Home Demonstrations Club. The last five and a half years, she has been a resident of the Life Care Center of Collegedale, where she enjoyed church services and the social activities. Eva served as Vice President of the Residence Council at Life Care. The nursing home staff were her friends as she never met a stranger. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Mustard Tree Ministry of the First Centenary UMC, in memory of Eva Irene Cross at: P.O Box 4002, Chattanooga, TN 37405. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Valley View Chapel with the Rev. Grady Cooper and the Rev. Teryl James officiating. Interment will be in Plowman Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist, 7414 Old Lee highway.
