Guy Denton

EVENSVILLE — Guy Thomas Denton went home to be with his Lord and Savior on July 29, 2018. Guy was born in Evensville, Tenn., on Aug. 26, 1929, the only child of Ola and Audrey Denton. After completing his formal education, Guy proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He then went to work for TVA for 33 years, working his way up through the ranks, and retiring as Operations Supervisor at Watts Bar Nuclear Plant. Guy served his community by volunteering on the Rhea Medical Hospital Board of Directors. He also served on the We Care Board, as well as the Farm Bureau Board. He served as a member of the Rhea Economic and Tourism Council. Guy was a member of First Baptist Church of Dayton, where he served as Trustee. In retirement, Guy found joy in farming land that had been in his family for nearly 200 years. When not on the farm, Guy could be found following his beloved Tennessee Vols all across the country. Guy was preceded in death by his parents; and by his first wife of 35 years, Bobbie Jean Swack Denton. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Zama Lusk Denton; his children, Marty Denton, Ruth(John) Giesemann, Sam Denton and Jean(David) Gray; stepchildren, Andy(Lera) Wade, and Amy(Shawn) Scott. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at Coulter-Garrison Funeral Home in Dayton, TN on Wednesday, Aug. 1, from noon to 3 p.m. The service will immediately follow in the Chapel, with burial at Pierce Cemetery.
