Robert Fraley

Robert (Bob) Leonard Fraley, 86, passed away on Monday, June 4, 2018, in Chattanooga, Tenn. He was born Dec. 17, 1931, in Akron, Ohio to Zella Rose and Baker Leonard Fraley. Bob served in the United States Air Force before attending the University of Oklahoma where he received a Civil Engineering degree. While in school he met and married his wife of 60 years, Margaret Mary Fraley. Bob’s career began at the Army Corp of Engineers. He retired from the Tennessee Valley Authority. He and Mary raised five children. He had many hobbies, including fishing, hunting, and teaching his kids (and all their friends) to waterski. He was also a wood worker and was a member of the Evergreen Wood Carvers. His joy of wood working leaves behind many family treasures. For example, Bob made the baby cradle that all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren have used. Bob enjoyed his grandchildren and the new energy his great-grandchildren brought to his life. Bob was preceded in death by his wife Margaret Mary Fraley of Chattanooga, Tenn., brother, Ralph Fraley of Akron, Ohio and sister, Norma Jean Ledford of Silver Spring, M.D. Bob is survived by son, Michael (Nola) Fraley and daughters; Deborah Fraley of Chattanooga, Tenn., Karen (Greg) Cullison of Ramstein, Germany, Sharon (Consuelo) Fraley of Houston, Texas and Jo (Elizabeth) Fraley of Philadelphia, Pa.; brother, Roy Fraley of Morristown, Tenn. and sister, Pat Christian of Church Hill, Tenn.; seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. A Celebration of Robert’s Life will be held graveside in the Chattanooga National Cemetery on June 22, 2018, at 1 p.m. with military honors. The family will receive friends at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home on Thursday June 21, 2018, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Arrangements are under the care of Chattanooga Funeral Home Crematory and Florist East Chapel, 404 South Moore Rd.
