Edna Coulter

FORT OGLETHORPE — Edna Plunkett Coulter, 93, of Fort Oglethorpe passed peacefully to her Heavenly Home on Saturday, June 16, 2018. She was born on Sep. 25, 1924, in Subligna, Ga. to the late Cheatham and Gracie (Hix) Plunkett. She graduated from Subligna High School in 1942, where she loved playing on her basketball team. Edna lived her adult life in Lakeview, Ga., where she was a member of Lakeview First Baptist Church for over 50 years. She loved traveling all over the world with the Seniors in her church, was very active with the Sunshiners Group and Teen Challenge, and enjoyed square dancing with the Stateline Shufflers and other dance groups. Edna worked for many years as a Personnel Placement Manager with Snelling and Snelling, and Holmes Personnel, and was known as “Kay Banks” in the personnel business. After retirement she loved doing demos at the local grocery stores. Edna was preceded in death by her parents, great-grandson, Luke Battersby; sisters, Myra Jenkins and Mildred Hawkins and brothers, Wayne Plunkett and Neal Plunkett. Survivors include her five children, Max (Sandy) Coulter, Jim Coulter, Sheila (Lebron) Creech, Sharon (Reuben) Brogdon and Ken (Gracie) Coulter; four grandchildren, Leigh Anne Battersby, Diana (Kelly) Cooke, Janet (Scott) Shadwick and Lucas Strozak; four great-grandchildren, Fiona Battersby, Ethan Morgan, Rachel and Rami Cooke; brother, Melvin Plunkett; sister, Ina Scoggins; sister-in-law, JoAnn Plunkett; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Leroy Spinks officiating. Interment will follow at Lakewood Memory Gardens, South.
