George Lawson

George “Buddy” Lawson, of East Ridge, passed away Friday June 15, 2018, at his residence surrounded by his family. Mr. Lawson was born June 22, 1928, in Rhea County, Tenn., to parents George and Florence Downs Lawson. Buddy proudly served his country in both the U.S. Army and the U.S. Navy. Mr. Lawson worked for Mayfield Dairies for many years as the Mechanic Supervisor and was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post #40. Mr. Lawson was an East Ridge Volunteer firefighter serving under Chief Ralph Perdergrass. Buddy cherished each moment spent with his family and will be missed by all who came to know him. Mr. Lawson was preceded in death by his precious wife, Betty Lawson; children, Sherrill Jean Lawson, Jim Lawson and Sgt. Robert Lawson Sr. as well as best friend Sgt. Thomas Nihiser. Survivors include children, Judy Nihiser, Sherry (Wayne) Robinson, and Robert Lawson Jr.; grandchildren, Ricky (Lindsay) Doyal Jr., Corey (Amanda) Doyal, Kadi (Stephen) Justus, Jackie Robinson, Troy (Misty) Robinson, Jeremy (Randella) Robinson, Rebecca Ward and Elizabeth Ward; 25 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; his fur baby, “Buddy” as well as several nieces and nephews also survive. Services to honor the life of George “Buddy” Lawson will be held Wednesday, June 20, 2018, at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Military graveside services will be at 1 p.m. from the Chattanooga National Cemetery afterwards he will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife. Online guestbook atwww.wilsonfuneralhome.com.
