Ann Bowen

MEAD, Okla. — Beulah Ann Baker Bowen, 78, formerly of Jasper, Tenn., died Wednesday, June 20, 2018. The eldest of four children born to the late William Russell Baker Sr. and Beulah Viola Howard Baker, Ann lived in Jasper until 2009 when she began travelling the country with her husband, Butch Vores, often staying for extended periods at their home in Mead, Oklahoma. A graduate of Marion County High School, she worked for many years as a wedding coordinator. Music was a very important part of her life, and she particularly enjoyed being a part of the Community Singers, and was often a soloist with the group. She was very active for many years in organizations in the community, including the Home Demonstration Club and MCHS Band Boosters. She also served the Town of Jasper as Mayor from 1996 – 2000. In addition to her parents, Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice “Bemo” Bowen; sister, Brenda McClain; and brother, Wayne Baker. She is survived by her husband, C. E. “Butch” Vores, of Mead, Okla.; daughters, Valorie Ann King (Jim) Bowen, and Stacey (Ralph) Kennedy, both of Chattanooga, Tennessee; stepdaughters, Beverly (Charlie) Zech, of New Braunsfels, Texas, and Becky (David) Garcia, of San Antonio, Texas; grandchildren, Randy (Alana) Rhodes, Danny (Jennifer) Rhodes, Cliff (Lindsey) Stewart, Trey (Janine) Kennedy, Arry Zech, Taylor Garcia, and David Garcia; great-grandchildren, Caleb Rhodes, Destiny Rhodes, Raeghan Rhodes, Reece Rhodes, Rynleigh Rhodes, Rhett Rhodes, Jessica Stewart, and Mary Elizabeth Stewart; brother, Bill (Paula) Baker, of Knoxville, Tenn.; several nieces and nephews; uncle, Ed Howard, of Columbus, Ga.; aunts, Jennie Haynes, of Tiftonia, Tenn., and Bonnie Odom, of Lebanon, Tenn. Funeral services will be conducted from the Jasper Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home at 11 a.m. CT, on Saturday, June 23, 2018. Interment will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery in Jasper, Tenn. The family will gather with friends for visitation on Friday, June 22, 2018, from 5 to 8 p.m. CT at the funeral home.
