RISING FAWN — L.J. Stephens, 88, passed away Sunday, June 24, 2018, in Clermont, Fla. He was a former resident of the New Salem Community. He was a loving husband, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother. He was of the Christian faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dock and Vennie Avans Stephens; sons, Albert Ray and Rodney Stephens; daughter, Faye Craig; grandsons, Curtis Wayne Stephens II and Jason Vaughn; brothers, C.W. (Pete) Stephens, Doyle Stephens; sister, Amalee Price. He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Geraldine Stephens; daughter, Joyce Sampley; sons, Curtis Wayne Stephens and Ricky Stephens; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; sisters, Wavolee Phillips, Maxlee Christopher, Cleta Kirby, and Gayla Fowler; brothers, Willard Stephens, Wayne Stephens, and Durand Stephens; nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. EDT Saturday, June 30, 2018, in the Trenton Chapel of Moore Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Burton officiating. Interment will be held in Hawkins Cemetery.
