Ruth Hatfield
Ruth Moore Jolley Hatfield, 102, long-time resident of Chattanooga, passed
away in Nashville on March 9.
She was born in Rockwood, Tenn., to the late John and Paralee Moore.
She was preceded in death by husband, Donald C. Jolley; son, Don Jolley Jr.; husband of 67 years, Walter K. Hatfield; six sisters; and one brother.
She is survived by daughter, Myrna Deere and husband Pete; four grandchildren, Seth Jolley, Liane Ray and husband Rodney, David Deere and wife Kim, and Keith Deere; six great-grandchildren, Sean and Erin Jolley, Alicia and Christopher Ray, Victor and Taylor Deere; and special caregivers Donita Abernathy and Donna Pitts.
She loved her work with children at Red Bank Baptist Church, where she was a
member for nearly 50 years before moving to Nashville 17 years ago. She is now a
member of Brook Hollow Baptist Church.
Her long life included traveling to many places, camping and spending time with
grandchildren.
Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 14, at Chattanooga Memorial
Park, with Dr. Fred Steelman officiating.
