Edith Hayward

ROSSVILLE — Edith Hayward, 97, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 13, 2018. She was a native of Birchwood, Tenn., formerly of Florida, and Birmingham, Ala., and had lived in Rossville since 1991. She was a member of Victory Baptist Church and had worked as an Administrative Assistant in the banking industry for over 25 years. Mrs. Hayward loved her four-legged Fur babies, Susie, Coco, and Dolly. She was a true southern lady who enjoyed entertaining family and friends in her home. You never left her house without a “gift”. Her passions in life were working in her vegetable and flower gardens, playing her piano, and going out to eat with friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Hayward; and 11 brothers and sisters. Survivors include her niece, Mary Lynn (Bill) Daugherty, of Chattanooga; nephew, Billy (Judy) McDowell, of Conway, Ark.; several great-nieces and nephews; great-great-nieces and nephews; and many friends. The family would like to extend a special thank you to her neighbors and good friends for looking out for Mrs. Hayward and always lending a helping hand to her throughout the years. Condolences may be sent to www.lane-southcrestchapel.com. Funeral services will be held Friday at 3 p.m. in the South Crest Chapel with Rev. Jim Kinnard and Dr. Ernest Groce officiating. Interment will be in the Jefferson Memorial Gardens in Trussville, Ala., on Saturday at noon CST. The family will receive friends Friday from noon until the funeral hour at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, located at the end of historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville.
