Bartha Cawthon

Bartha Cawthon, 73, of Ooltewah, passed away on Tuesday, May 1, 2018. Bartha was born in Los Angeles, Calif., to the late Ima Gene and Vincent Lincoln Thompson. She was a graduate of Resida High School and received her Associate’s Degree in Dental Hygiene. Bartha met her husband who served in the Navy and they moved all over the states before settling in Nolensville, Tenn., and then moving to Chattanooga. She loved to volunteer and serve in her children’s school and communities. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah Cawthon. Bartha is survived by her husband of 52 years, James Hugh Cawthon; son, Daniel (Andrea) Cawthon; daughter, Lisa (Raymond) Wright; grandchildren, Ryan and Jonathan Cawthon, Jackson, Ashlyn and Caroline Mattox; brother, Glenn (Nancy) Thompson; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. on Thursday, May 3, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home. A Celebration of Bartha’s life will follow at 3 p.m. on Thursday at the North Chapel with Reverend Gary Quarles officiating. Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
