Bessie Lee Coleman, 69, of Chattanooga, passed away Tuesday, May 8, 2018, in a local health care facility. She was a 1968 graduate of Howard High School. Bessie was employed by the Hamilton County Department of Education and was a faithful member of Alton Park Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sylvester and Addie Johnson; son, Ronald Coleman Jr.; twin sister, Mattie Lee Coleman; nephew, Kenneth Coleman; and sister-in-law, Elsie Wilson. Survivors include her daughter, Darnita Coleman; three grandchildren, Alexis Coleman, Laquesha Wood, and Tyla Coleman, all of Chattanooga; sisters, Daisy Wilson, of Chattanooga, Thelma Forbes, of Beach Park, Ill., and Cora Washington, of Jamaica, NY; brothers, Nathan Wilson, of Cleveland, OH and Devasco (Sandra) Wilson, of Memphis, Tenn.; special daughter, Lisa Williams, of Chattanooga; a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends. She will lie-in-state today after 12:30 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Friday at noon in the chapel with Brother Phillip Henderson as the eulogist. Burial in Forest Hills Cemetery.
