FLAT ROCK — Ashley Nicole Smith, 27, died Wednesday, May 23, at her residence after battling breast cancer. Funeral services are Saturday at 2 p.m. CT at Corner Stone Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Payne Gap Cemetery. Family will receive friends from noon to 8 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. until service time on Saturday. Survivors include daughter, Cadence Nicole Griffith; mother and stepfather, Mary Ruth "Penny" and Stan Ferguson; father, Matthew Welden; brothers, Shaune Smith, Chris Smith; half-brother, Devin Smith, stepbrothers, Gary Ferguson and Chad Ferguson; grandparents, Ivan and Lorene Hughes, Dewey and Lula Belle Smith; several aunts, uncles and cousins. Ms. Smith was preceded in death by her grandparents, Charles and Julie Jackson, Calvin and Lucille Welden; stepfather, Carl Randall Smith; and stepbrother, Billy Charles Ferguson.
