Bobby Torrence

Bobby Torrence Sr., 77, of Chattanooga, passed away Friday, Oct. 26, 2018, at his residence. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Bobby worked as a medical assistant at the Veterans Administration Hospital, then changed his career to truck driving with AAA Motor Lines. Upon moving to Chattanooga in 1977, he worked for Roadway and retired after 22 years of service. He was a member of New Life Seventh-day Adventist Church. Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Cornelius and Matilda Torrence Sr.; brothers, Fred Torrence Sr. and Cornelius Torrence Jr.; sisters, Ella Hogan, Henrietta Broom, Kathryn Torrence, and Betty Huey. Survivors include his devoted wife, Linda Torrence; sons, Andre Torrence and Bobby (Erica) Torrence Jr.; daughter, Courtney Scott; grandchildren, Nicholas Torrence, Jordan Torrence, Scarlett Scott, Randy Hollingsworth, and Anthony Hooks, all of Chattanooga; sister, Linda “Cookie” Torrence, of Birmingham, Ala.; mother-in-law, Willie Ruth Townsend, of Adger, Ala.; sisters-in-law, Louise Torrence, of Birmingham, Ala., Frances Torrence, of Mobile, Ala., Anita (Ernest) Carter, of Bessemer, Ala., Barbara Frank, of Chevy Chase, Md., and Beverly Watson, of Adger, Ala.; brothers-in-law, Walter Watson Jr., of Atlanta, Ga., Johnny (Twainca) Watson, of Adger, Ala., and Larry (Mamie) Watson, of San Diego, Calif.; a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends. He will lie-in-state today after 12:30 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at New Life Seventh-day Adventist Church with Pastor Aaron Mills Jr. as the eulogist. Burial on Monday at 10:30 a.m. in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
