Gilbert Purtee

Gilbert (Gib) Purtee Jr., 57, died Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2018, at about 2 a.m. Gilbert was born on Dec. 1, 1960, in Festus, Mo.; graduated from Wheelersburg (OH) High School in May 1978; attended Tennessee Temple University in Chattanooga, Tenn.; had been married to Pat Kee of Newnan, Ga. He was a member of Silverdale Baptist Church and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, of Chattanooga, Tenn. Gib was preceded in death by grandparents, S.A. and Enid (Monroe) Purtee, Wheelersburg, OH, and John and Sarah (Tracy) McIntire, Portsmouth, OH; his parents, Rev. Gilbert and Estabelle (McIntire) Purtee; his brother, David (Cynthia) Purtee; and his sister, Gyl (LaVerle) Coats. He is survived by his sisters, Connie (Ted) Pearson, Parrish, Fla., and Joy (Butch) Callahan, Pensacola, Fla.; by his brother-in-law, Rev. LaVerle Coats, Chattanooga, Tenn.; by nieces and nephews, Tracy Coats, Chris (Nancy) Coats, Kimberly (Dennis) Coats, Mark (Sarah) Pearson, Jay (Katrina) Pearson, Jonathan (Jessica) Callahan, and Daniel Callahan; and by many great-nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held in the Fellowship Hall of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 822 Belvoir Ave, Chattanooga, TN, at 10 a.m. on Nov. 24, 2018.
